TED promotes ideas worth spreading, and here at TEDxEastVan, we want as many people as possible to be able to hear these amazing ideas. As many of you know, we are a non-profit community event run solely by volunteers and a few generous sponsors. The ticket price to the event includes lunch, snacks, bottomless cups of coffee and a great after-party.
But as hard as we work to make this event affordable, we realise that there are many people in our community who just don’t have the means to make it to our event. And we knew we had to do something to change this.
So we took in all the feedback and requests we’ve received over the last year and we’re thrilled to present the Pay it Forward program. The program allows you to purchase an extra ticket to donate to someone in our East Van community who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend. It’s your opportunity to gift someone an opportunity to be inspired and join our tightknit community at the York theatre. If you want to give back in a smaller way, you can also choose the ‘General plus Donation’ ticket and add $20 to your purchase. This way, you are lowering the price for someone who can’t afford to pay the full amount.
Our team will reach out to community organisations and together we will make sure that the free ticket goes to someone who will fully appreciate the opportunity to join us at TEDxEastVan.
